Tim Tingle was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1958. His family moved to Montevallo when he was a year old, and he has been here ever since. Educated at the University of Montevallo, he went to work in the coal mines in 1979, and retired from there after 37 years. He and his wife Nanette raised five children, and still live on their 16-acre farm in Pea Ridge. He was inspired to create from an early age, and is an entirely self-taught artist. He is best known for his tree carvings in Montevallo’s Orr Park. In retirement, he is a farmer, wood carver, fiction writer and world traveler.
